Questions about Solar PV Installation
How big a system do I need?
That comes from your actual usage, not a guess. We review your utility bills across several months, look at which loads you want backed up, and size the array and battery around that. Oversizing wastes money; undersizing means the system disappoints you every outage.
Will solar keep my house running during a blackout?
Only if it includes batteries. A grid-tied system without storage shuts down during an outage — by design, so it cannot backfeed the line while crews are working. If riding out outages is your goal, you need a battery and a critical-load subpanel.
Does my electrical panel need work first?
Often, yes. Solar interconnection has to land on a panel with the right rating and available space. Because we are electricians first, we can do the panel work and the solar install as one coordinated job instead of two contractors pointing at each other.
What about incentives and net metering?
Incentive programs and net metering rules change, and eligibility depends on your utility account and installation date. We will tell you what currently applies to your situation rather than quoting a headline number, and we will point you to the paperwork your utility requires.
How long does an installation take?
The on-site work for a typical residential system is measured in days, not weeks. The overall timeline depends on equipment availability, any panel upgrade, and utility interconnection — we give you the full schedule with the quote.
